Giving Tree Cafe, a restaurant that serves an entirely plant-based menu on Seventh Street near downtown Phoenix, will soon close.

The restaurant’s owner and chef, David Warr, made an announcement on Giving Tree’s social media sharing the news.

“We treasure the shared experiences with you all and appreciate all your support through the years,” the announcement reads, in part.

Giving Tree Cafe opened in 2019 and in 2020, it won our Best of Phoenix award for Best Vegan Restaurant in the Valley. On it’s website, the cafe describes itself as “the healthiest restaurant in Arizona” and a “plant-based, organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, RO (reverse osmosis) water, no seed oils, no processed sugars, scratch kitchen.”

It became a hub for vegan and vegetarian diners that offered more than meals. The restaurant hosted cooking classes, sold detox juices and offered meal prep plans as well.

“We would like to think that in addition to providing nourishment for your body we have also provided nourishment for your soul along the way. And for that too, we are forever grateful,” the closing announcement reads.

The restaurant’s last day will be Dec. 28.
