Henry's Taiwan

Jackie Mercandetti Main dishes, like the very good stir-fry squid with Chinese vegetables, are served in portion sizes that result in leftovers.

  • Daily 11am-9pm
The first restaurant outside of Seattle from chef and restaurateur Henry Ku, this accessible, affordable, and instantly enjoyable Taiwanese eatery blends Ku’s memories of Taiwan with the French cooking techniques he learned in the States. Close to Arizona State University, Henry’s mostly 20-something Chinese clientele keep the tiny restaurant buzzing, tucking into a variety of street snacks like Taiwanese sausage, sticky rice rolls, and the notorious Taiwanese snack that packs a stench, stinky tofu. Many of the very good main dishes — black pepper chicken tenders, squid pottage, and Three Cup Chicken — are served up in portion sizes that mean leftovers for the next day.
