The social networking phenomenon played a big part in your early success with Coco. Apart from your professional concerns, what do you like about the social networking trend, and what do you have a problem with?

It's difficult because these sites are addicting. People spend too much time on them, and when your friends are on the computer, there is no actual face to face interaction. The idea of friendship has changed, so I don't like them in that sense. But it's also an amazing thing, because you can connect to people around the world, fall in love, and obviously it can be a career booster. Social networking is how the world is evolving, and you gotta just go with it.

Many of your songs are speaking directly to that special someone. In plain English with no lyrics, describe that person, that dream guy:

Someone who can make me laugh, and when I look in his eyes, he calms my heart. He has to be self motivated, goal oriented, wants a good career, gets along with my family, is spontaneous, and he has to be taller than me.

Today you're singing about love and relationships and navigating through the landscape of your romantic feelings. Predict the future and tell us what Colbie Caillat will be singing about in five or ten years?

Probably the same stuff, but in a different perspective. We go through different relationships in life, fall in love and out of love, stay in love with the same person. I write about any emotion I feel; it may be about falling in love or breaking up, but it will be me looking at it differently than before.

You were literally a product of music, with your mom and dad meeting while working on Fleetwood Mac's Tusk. Did you feel an obligation to pursue a career in music, were you coaxed into it, or was it a natural progression from your early exposure because you were enamored with it?

It was a natural progression. I started singing when I was 11 years old, and my parents had nothing to do with it. It just felt good; I would wake up every morning singing. People told me I had a good voice, and I got a great reaction when I sang 'Killing me Softly' in the school talent show. I started taking vocal lessons, and my parents said that if I really wanted a career, it was important to become a musician and a song writer.

So when did you start playing guitar? When I was 19! Yeah, not that long ago.

Fill in the Blanks: When it's all said and done, as a musician, Colbie Caillat will be remembered for ________and as a person, she will be remembered for _________.

Her voice, her sincerity.

You've recorded with Jason Mraz for 'Lucky' who would you really like to work with in the future?

I would love to do a collaboration with a hip hop artist like Common or Pharrell Williams.

Any message you'd like to pass along to Jason?

Tell him that I miss him and it was so good to see him recently in Chicago. He had me come out and sing 'Lucky' a few times for his live recording, and it was so fun. There were upwards of 10,000 people there; I had such a good time.

Anything you'd like to say to Phoenix fans before you take the stage at AZ Fall Frenzy?

I want y'all to come to my show and have a good time and forget about your stress at that moment. Sing along with me, dance with me, and have fun.
