After Katy Perry’s press conference yesterday, at which the singer hinted that the special guest during the Super Bowl halftime show would be “old school,” we were thinking that perhaps Joan Jett would make a surprise appearance wielding a guitar.

Missy Elliot appeared on the 2011 remix of Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”

It’s a weird combo — pop princess Katy Perry, innocuous rocker Lenny Kravitz, and rapper Missy Elliot. We’ll have to see what happens Sunday. “Roar” into “American Woman” into “Get Ur Freak On”? It’s going to be difficult to top Madonna’s Super Bowl performance, and I’m skeptical that will happen with this combo. Let’s wait and see.
