It was only yesterday that I was sharing the news of Smiths-related activity in Phoenix, including former-Smiths bassist Andy Rourke's DJ set at Bar Smith this Friday, and the upcoming performance by Los Esmiths, Calexico, California's premier Smiths tribute band, at Rips Ales and Cocktails.
But it looks like I may have published the blog a day early. Today, Morrissey fan zine True to You published news that "The Moz" is embarking on a tour of the U.S. and Mexico, with a stop at the Orpheum Theatre scheduled for Sunday, November 20.
So far there's no confirmation on the Orpheum's site, on Ticketmaster, or any of the promoter sites I checked, nor have I found confirmation of any of the other 17 dates.
A couple emails have been sent, so stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, enjoy this excellent Moz jam, "The First of the Gang To Die," and sit tight for more potentially racist remarks from Morrissey.
