After opening performances by Mike Dean and Playboy Carti, the 35-year-old Canadian superstar (born Abel Tesfaye) appeared in a sparkling black robe with a hood and a chrome mask with glowing eyes that covered half his face. The two-hour set that followed dazzled eyes and ears with smash hits, new tracks and a few surprises, all set to dramatic, often religiously influenced visuals.
He performed almost 40 songs, including most of the tracks from his latest album, January's "Hurry Up Tomorrow," but the biggest cheers were reserved for his biggest hits, near-classics such as "The Hills," "Starboy" and "Blinding Lights." Some songs, such as "Starboy," "After Hours" and "São Paulo," were not performed in full.

The Weeknd launches the last leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix.
