Jasmine Crockett knows how to get off a zinger.

The Texas representative is probably best known for lambasting far-right Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as a “bleach blonde bad built butch body” during a House committee meeting last year. That penchant for a colorful insult has sometimes gotten her in hot water — see earlier this year, when she derisively referred to wheelchair user and Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as “hot wheels” — but more often than not, Crockett’s talent with a burn is a help rather than a hindrance to Democratic causes.

That’s almost certainly one of the reasons why Crockett was among the Democratic lawmakers sent to Phoenix on Sunday for a town hall put on by the organization Move On. Joined onstage at the Van Buren by Arizona Rep. Yassamin Ansari and Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, the Texas Democrat was there as part of the organization’s campaign to “Flip the House” for the Democrats in 2026. The campaign came to Arizona to put pressure on toss-up House seats currently held by Republican Reps. Juan Ciscomani and David Schwiekert.

Crockett was met with chants “Crockett, Crockett, Crockett” from attendees excited to hear some crass poetry from the anti-Trump firebrand. They weren’t disappointed. From calling President Donald Trump a “piece of shit” to saying that Arizona’s Republican representatives are clowns, Crockett brought her A-game.

Here are the nine best zingers from Crockett at Sunday’s town hall.

“Donald Trump is a piece of shit.”

That’s pretty straightforward.

“The Supreme Court is corrupt.”

Seconds before Crockett’s “piece of shit” comment, she argued that in “a functioning democracy,” Trump wouldn’t be able to “get away” with all he’s been able to do. Who’s at fault for that?

Republicans in the House and Senate are “complicit,” Crockett said, but “most importantly,” so is the Supreme Court. She criticized the court for being the “highest court in the land” with “no ethical guardrails.”

“So it’s time for us to do it for them,” she added.

“It’s almost like we got into this abusive relationship back in 2016.”

In an interview ahead of the town hall, Phoenix New Times asked Crockett about the last time she was in Phoenix: two days before former President Joe Biden announced he wouldn’t be seeking reelection. “That was a wild day,” Crockett told reporters. “I had zero idea.”

Upon reflecting on what’s changed since her last visit, Crockett compared Trump’s relationship to Americans to an abusive relationship.

“We felt like the only way somebody could love us was if they slapped us around a little bit,” she said. “It’s crazy that being with somebody (Biden) who actually showed us real love meant that we wouldn’t be consistently on edge or have anxiety or wonder what was going to pop up next.”

“They wouldn’t wear masks during COVID, but now they love them.”

Amid her criticism of the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts — led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement — Crockett added that it’s “very interesting” that agents wear masks while conducting raids across the country.

Crockett is far from the only elected official to point out this irony. In early July, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said it’s “bullshit” that ICE agents wear masks, adding that she didn’t want to see it in Arizona.

“...the president’s nightmare.”

Crockett is no stranger to sparring with Trump, who is no fan of the outspoken representative.

“I’m sure that the President will argue I’m America’s nightmare,” Crockett said, which was met with jeers from the audience. “But I want to give him as many nightmares as possible.”

“There are some real domestic threats in this country right now.”

Upon introducing herself to the crowd — which was very much already familiar with her work — Crockett talked about swearing an oath to the Constitution when she entered office to “protect against enemies both foreign and DOMESTIC.”

“I am here to tell you that I have grave concerns,” she continued.

“Or if you live in one of those clowns’ districts…”

Who was Crockett calling a “clown”? All of the Arizona congressional Republicans. That’s who.

Ansari had already called out each of Arizona’s Republican representatives by name. But Crockett told the audience to talk to your friends and neighbors (even if they live in “one of those clowns’ districts”) about the future of the Democratic Party, as “they have lost faith in us.”

“I get under his skin real good.”

Earlier this year, Trump called Crockett a “lowlife” and a “low IQ person.” But Crockett seems to take these insults with a little bit of pride.

“I somehow annoy the commander-in-chief, apparently,” she said, which was met with roaring applause. “I get under his skin real good.”

“I am serving a lot of folks a lot better than the people that are elected from Arizona.”

Crockett took another shot at Arizona’s Republican representatives for voting for Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill" and for blocking the release of the Epstein files.

“I can tell you that every day that I head to D.C., and I take votes,” she said. “I promise you that I am serving a lot of folks a lot better than the people that are elected from Arizona.”
