The Rock Springs Cafe & Saloon

If you’ve ever made the drive up north on the I-17 to Sedona, Flagstaff, or the Grand Canyon, you’ll remember Rock Springs Café from its giant sign advertising pie on the freeway. Maybe you’ve even been so enticed that you stopped to check out the Arizona landmark, which has a history dating back to 1918, when a canvas-covered general store was first opened on the property. It was named Rock Springs, and the small town by the same name grew up around it. Now there’s a café and saloon to go along with the general store, and travelers can park their cars for a quick break from their trek to enjoy pulled pork, meatloaf, fish ‘n’ chips, chicken-fried steak, or just a cold beer. And of course there’s pie, available whole or by the slice in flavors like Jack Daniel’s pecan, banana cream, Tennessee lemon, rhubarb crumb, and classic apple.
