On a recent visit to Just Tacos and More in east Phoenix, we lined up in the small, sunny restaurant and perused the large menu on TV screens hanging above the counter.
We ordered some horchata, which is spiked with plenty of cinnamon and fresh apple slices, and tastes like apple pie. To eat, we opted for a selection of the different creative tacos: one chile relleno taco, a carne asada taco topped with nopales, and another with shrimp.
"Fried or grilled?" the server promptly asked. Unsure, we asked her opinion, to which she replied with resounding confidence, "fried, for sure."
She did not lead us astray. These shrimp tacos were some of the best we've tasted in Phoenix.

Just Tacos and More offers an a la carte menu allowing customers to mix and match their meals.

But the color and texture didn't match. While the deep golden brown made us nervous the shrimp would be overcooked, they were the opposite. Each bite was tender thanks to the large shrimp being just-cooked, leaving them plump and soft. Coupled with the crunch of the breading, these fried shrimp were outstanding.
They come piled four to a taco, but we found ourselves eating a few individually, in part to savor each bite and also because they were so large that it only took two to fill the tortilla.
The mix-and-match menu at Just Tacos and More allows customers to pick their protein for most of the dishes. That means you could add these delectable fried shrimp to many of the creative tacos, burritos, huaraches, quesadillas or sopes.
Perfect, we'll take one of each.
