7th Street-goers can have a drink and a smoke to celebrate the the newest destination in the budding network of local businesses just north of McDowell Road in the Coronado District.

The neighborhood that already boasts America's Taco Shop, MacAlpine's Soda Fountain, The Main Ingredient Ale House, That's a Wrap!, Coronado Cafe and La Piccola Cucina welcomed Seven Lounge to the lineup this weekend, and Chow Bella was there for its soft opening Friday night.

The idea for Seven Lounge came about after the owners shared a particularly lovely hookah bar/lounge experience on the beach in Florida.

The couple realized that Phoenix lacks the same chic, late night opportunity to grab a drink and a bite while puffing flavored tobacco out of a hookah (because, quite frankly, doing it next to a group of college freshman in hemp necklaces and Dave Matthews Band tees in Tempe just isn't the same).

The owners fell in love with the neighborhood, and after the initial interior fix-up, the spot went from virtually unknown to open seemingly overnight.

The bar serves beer and wine, as well as a selection of group-portioned appetizers and pitzas (open-faced pita pizzas) made by the folks next door at La Piccola Cuchina.

There are more developments to come, including new signage, an outdoor patio and a variety of nightly musical entertainment from local DJs.
