The restaurant is part of chef Joey Maggiore's portfolio, which also includes Hash Kitchen, The Italiano and The Sicilian Butcher and Baker.
Following the fire, the owners anticipated repairs would take a minimum of two months. When the closure stretched on, the concept moved, temporarily popping up in another of Maggiore's spaces.
Another of his restaurants, called The Rosticceria, closed in early October. With one vacant space, and another restaurant needing a home, The Mexicano took over the location on Tatum Boulevard. But now, The Mexicano's original home is ready for the concept to move back in.
On Jan. 31, The Mexicano will celebrate its "grand reopening," with "a fresh look, an exciting new menu, and enhanced activations," according to the company. The build-your-own margarita bar is coming back, and a new fresh tortilla-making station has been added.
The reopening event will start at 3 p.m. on Jan. 31 and the first 100 customers will receive a $30 gift card to use that day or on their next visit.
The reopening marks the start of a busy year for the Maggiore Group, which also plans to open a second location of The Mexicano in Chandler and hopes to debut a new concept in the Tatum Boulevard space.
