Thousands of local geeks attended Phoenix Comicon 2017, the annual pop culture extravaganza that takes over the Phoenix Convention Center and part of downtown. Increased security and a prop weapons ban didn't diminish the fun of the event, which took place from May 25 to May 28 and included appearances from such celebrities as Dick Van Dyke, Karen Gillan, Jon Bernthal, Karen David, Garrett Wang, and Robert Duncan McNeil.
