Pink Floyd Experience @ Comerica Theatre
Tribute bands are a dime a dozen, but few are on the level of The Pink Floyd Experience, headlining a venue only a little smaller than the one Roger Waters himself played a few months ago. Playing the songs of the psychedelic prog-rock mega-group requires an advanced level of observation and a keen ear for Floydian sound and style, but The Pink Floyd Experience sees its idols as iconic and notable for the way they approached their live performances as well. It's not just mastering the music and the guitar solos that is important — everything from the lights to the props to the overall feeling associated with Pink Floyd's shows is mimicked. In fact, PFE's website lists its goals as a band, and one of them is to "ensure the sensual attack of Floyd. Give it top priority along with the music." Come on — how many tribute acts give serious thought to sensuality when putting together a show?
