A bank robbery suspect turned a Chandler bank into a drag show yesterday, when he dressed like a woman while committing his heist.

According to witnesses, the suspect -- wearing a black cotton knee-length summer dress with a purple shirt underneath and a long, black curly wig tucked under a black and purple checkered hat --pulled out a handgun at a Wells Fargo Bank in Chandler yesterday afternoon and demanded cash.

No ensemble is complete without a pair of pink slippers, of course, which police say the cross-dressing crook was also wearing.

Police say the suspect entered the bank through the front door at around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, and, after robbing it, ran around the back of the bank with a black grocery bag full of an undetermined amount of cash.

Witnessed described the robber as being in his late 20s to early 30s, about six feet tall with an athletic build.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Chandler Police Department or the FBI.
