Ramen Burger from Bitter and Twisted Cocktail Parlour: 100 Favorite Dishes
Now you don't have to drive to L.A. to try one of these babies.
Last year we marked the hundred day countdown to Best of Phoenix by sharing some of our favorite food folks' "Personal Best" lists. This year we're bringing back our list of 100 Favorite Dishes. Have a suggestion for a dish you'd like us to try? Leave it in the comments section or email email@example.com.
11. Ramen Burger from Bitter and Twisted
The drinks are definitely the starts at the recently opened Bitter and Twisted Cocktail Parlour. Chef and partner Bob Tam even admits that the focus is the bar as opposed to the food . But don't let that fool you into thinking the food is worth overlooking. To the contrary, Tam has crafted one of the most unique bar menus in town. It's full of Asian-inspired small plates and snacks including Seoul Fried Chicken, Bettlenut Pork Belly, and Hurricane Popcorn.
Our favorite thing he's crafted so far has been the Ramen Burger, a trendy little dish that seems gimmicky -- until you take a bite. Tam uses a secret technique (he told us once but we're sworn to secrecy) to create perfectly round ramen buns that are cooked to a crisp on their exterior. They support a meaty sesame soy marinated patty that's the topped with Sriracha soba sauce, caramelized onions, pepper jack cheese, and jalapeno mayo.
You're going to mess a mess while eating but we promise it's worth the risk.
