Downtown Phoenix’s Walter Studios is equal parts venue and nightspot with a bit of an artsy flair. It’s a creative and colorful mix that’s a calling card of its owner, Valley immersive entertainment company Walter Productions. The 16,000-square-foot joint at Seventh Avenue and Roosevelt Street reflects that style in its design, programming and vibes.
Since debuting in 2022, Walter Studios has functioned in its self-described role as an “evolving community concept [and] house of fun.” The property, built in 1948 as the headquarters for Arizona label Canyon Records, regularly features concerts, electronic dance music gigs and drag events in its cavernous Studio A. On certain occasions, artists perform on Kalliope, a flashy mobile stage that’s part of Walter Productions’ fleet of art cars.
The 4,500-square-foot space has hosted some bangers this year, including performances by Baroness, David Duchovny, The Linda Lindas and Z-Trip. The rest of Walter Studios’ 2025 show list features notable acts like all-female rock band The Aces, rapper Dax and R&B artist ASTN.
While you’re there digging the sounds, this hotspot also has food and beverage menus to round out your night. In addition to craft beer and signature cocktails, there are also ‘elevated elixirs’ like rotating flavors of yerba mate, a watermelon water loaded with electrolytes. and Odyssey Mushroom Elixir that boasts those coveted Lion’s Mane ‘shrooms.
