It was only about a year ago that Andretti Indoor Karting & Games opened a massive entertainment center in south Chandler.
Now, fans of fun are looking forward to a new outpost on the other side of town.
Andretti's second Valley location, found at 6263 N. 99th Ave., Glendale, is scheduled to open on April 29.
Named for the legendary Andretti racing family, the 98,000-square-foot space will offer guests a multi-level race track with electric-powered "superkarts," plus an arcade, multiple VR experiences, laser tag, duckpin bowling, 7D Xperience Motion Theater, full scratch kitchen and bar. Included is 8,000 square feet set aside for private event space and in-house catering.
Racecar driver Jared Andretti of Indianapolis was on hand for the Chandler facility's opening last year when he told Phoenix New Times, “I was always coming out to Phoenix when my dad raced and I always tell people when I’m retiring, I want to come out here and live," he says. "I love the culture, weather, landscape, food … there’s no downside.”
As with other Andretti Karting locations, there is no cost to enter the facility, but each activity carries a separate price. A note on the website for the Glendale location says prices will be similar to the chain's Fort Worth, Texas, location, at which a single adult go-kart race will run you $30 for adults and $19 for kids as nonmembers; a game of laser tag is $15 for nonmembers; and 250 arcade game credits cost $10.
“Go-kart is fun to do as a family or group of friends. The 7D Motion Theater is super fun and you’re shooting at zombies, but it’s suitable for kids and not super scary,” Andretti said last year. “But I like playing air hockey; me and my dad used to play against each other.”
Before Andretti Karting opens in Glendale, it's got to get staffed, so it's holding a job fair from March 10 to April 5. People ages 18 and up can stop by the facility from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
