Our dreams of an Ace Hotel in Scottsdale, as reported yesterday, went down the drain today after an exchange with Valentine Freeman, a representative of Ace Hotels.

"Our capitol partners work on a variety of unique hotels and this is one of their projects," Freeman writes. "Ace Hotel is not at all involved with the concept, design or operations of any hotel in Phoenix at this time, including any project involving the former Hotel Theodore, which is run by [Joie de Vivre] Hotels."

The former Hotel Theodore is still currently owned by The Sydell Group, which also owns the real estate where Ace Hotels stand in New York in Palm Springs.

But Sydell does not own the rights to the Ace brand.

The Theodore will be managed by the Joie de Vivre group, which can certainly make an effort to bring a hip, cool boutique hotel to the Old Town Scottsdale scene, but judging by a few Joie de Vivre properties -- the space will be no Ace.

Check out Chow Bella's new food predictions for the hotel here.
