SOL Mexican Cocina

Executive chef Deborah Schneider's spacious "Baja-style" Mexican restaurant in the Scottsdale Quarter shopping complex features an extensive tequila, cocktail, and wine list to go with an equally large menu of upscale dining options. For starters, you can't go wrong with an excellent ceviche SOL ($14), filled with fish, lime juice, pico and serrano peppers, and sliced avocado. Shrimp chiles rellenos ($19) is indicative of the many seafood-based dishes, while a list of eight specialty tacos, such as the shrimp taco Dorado ($5.75), features bright flavors in tastefully presented dishes. Platillos (averaging about $18 each) include contemporary twists on standards such as carnitas, carne asada, pibil, and chipotle chicken.
