Calling Maynard James Keenan a busy man would be an understatement. The singer, writer, artist, winemaker and Arizona resident operates a vineyard, a tasting room, multiple restaurants and a pair of Brazilian jiu-jitsu dojos, all while fronting three popular bands — Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle.

Now he’s opening a music venue and vinyl cafe.

Keenan and his wife, Jennifer, are relocating Puscifer the Store from Jerome to Cottonwood, transforming it into Queen B Vinyl Cafe — a record store, wine bar, coffee roaster, ramen house, barber shop and concert venue opening on Oct. 23.

Queen B Vinyl Cafe’s opens on Oct. 23 with a week of events, including performances by comedian Rory Scovel and “Star Wars” metal band Galactic Empire, a Q&A and book signing with artist Chet Zar and a gospel brunch with The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers.

Jennifer Keenan stated in a press release that Queen B Vinyl Café will offer “new possibilities.”

“With our new location, we’re able to bring more live events to the community, while expanding our food offerings with the addition of both a coffee roaster and ramen house,” Jennifer Keenan.

And like Maynard’s other Arizona businesses, it’s likely to become a Mecca for his fans.

What’s at Queen B Vinyl Café?

Puscifer the Store debuted in 2008 along Main Street in Jerome. The two-story spot was a hub for merch and ephemera from the band, as well as the Keenans’ other projects and pursuits over the past 14 years.

In 2015, Phoenix New Times described the place as “a spacious gift shop selling all sorts of Puscifer-branded merchandise, from T-shirts to signed albums to jewelry shaped in the band's logo. There are even a few hairdressers operating in the shop's downstairs level, coyly named Barbifer.”

Queen B Vinyl Café will offer a similarly eclectic vibe and a focus on all things Keenan.

Touted as “an immersive experience,” its record store will stock a curated selection of new releases from all genres and various exclusives, rarities and limited-edition releases from Maynard’s bands. It will also participate in Record Store Day.

Queen B’s wine bar will feature selections from Caduceus Cellars, Merkin Vineyards and Four 8 Wineworks, while Barbifer, founded by Jennifer Keenan, will continue to function as a barber shop and salon with special appearances by touring tattoo and hair artists offered throughout the year.
