Norman Davis, the presiding juvenile judge for the Maricopa County Superior Court, tells New Times that he has asked county officials to investigate serious allegations published in this paper's current edition about Dr. Joseph Franzetti.

The allegations about the local psychiatrist (he's the guy in the photo) were published in a story entitled "Dr. Deception," which can be accessed here.

"This is an extremely serious matter, and we intend to do a thorough and fair investigation of these allegations," Davis says.

The judge adds that Franzetti will not receive any more appointments to do "competency" evaluations of juveniles until the outcome of the investigation.

More coming on the Franzetti story in the coming days and weeks.
