We're not sure of the statistical accuracy behind this, but we're willing to venture a guess that roughly 99% of churros eaten in America are consumed in either a theme park or Costco.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Chef Michael Snoke are looking to add Chase Field to that list with the creation of the Churro Dog.

We ventured over to the ballpark to try one for ourselves.

The concept is (gratuitously) sweet and simple. It's a 1,100 calorie sundae made to look like a hot dog. The churro replaces the hot dog itself, while a chocolate-glazed Long John doughnut cut in half (the long way) comprises the bun. Instead of the typical hot dog toppings, you get three scoops of vanilla frozen yogurt, a serious serving of whipped cream, and significant drizzles of chocolate and caramel sauces.

Tastewise, the Churro Dog hits every sweet flavor you'd want in tremendous dessert. The cinnamon on the churro blends smoothly with the creamy frozen yogurt, while the doughnut provides a stable base even as the yogurt and whipped cream begin to droop into a sugary mess. That reminds us, make sure to eat it quickly (within an inning, or so) after you get it, because the whole experience is much better while the crunch of the warm churro still cuts into the soft toppings. You don't want it to start melting on you, trust us.

The execution itself isn't anything life-changing, but the concept is so over-the-top that you're probably better off dropping $8.50 on one at Chase Field than trying to gather the ingredients to build your own in the comfort of your kitchen. Although the idea of a build-your-own-Churro Dog bar for a children's party is rather tempting.

One of the biggest concerns about the Churro Dog is the logistical aspect of serving hundreds (or thousands) of impatient fans at a D-backs game. There'll only be two designated Churro Dog spots on Chase Field's main concourse, and every Churro Dog pretty much has to be made to order (to prevent sogginess), so Snoke wanted to make sure he was putting out a product that was "worth the wait."

Of course, if you were to eat a Churro Dog and a D-Bat Dog (an 18-inch corn dog), it would account for your recommended calorie consumption for two days, so the "Double Dog Dare" (as some are calling it) isn't for the faint of heart.

Ultimately, the Churro Dog is exactly what you'd expect from the ingredients. It's a giant dessert, and if you like churros, doughnuts and ice cream sundaes, you're going to love it. Regardless of wait time or caloric damage, it'll definitely be a top-seller at every D-backs game. Why? Because in the words of Live 101.5's Lady La, "People are obsessed with eating food that looks like other foods. They're going to need to have this just for Instagram."
