Half a decade in, Arizona Cocktail Week's highly anticipated cocktail competition re-posed the question: Who would be the last slinger standing? This year, Team New Mexico's Carla Gilfillan, of Hotel Albuquerque, took home the top cash prize. Gilfillan beat competition from Austin, Texas; Colorado; Las Vegas; Utah; Tucson; and Phoenix. This is a back-to-back win for New Mexico, whose Andrew Roy won in 2016.

The contest is conducted bracket-style, with pairs of bartenders competing one on one. In each round, the pairs are given surprise spirits, liqueurs, and a stocked pantry with which to create a cocktail for the judges.
