Arizona Snowbowl Adds New Lift For 2017-18 Ski Season

Good news, snow lovers. When this year's ski season arrives, Arizona Snowbowl will debut a new lift on one of the Northern Arizona resort's most accessible slopes. The new quad chairlift will replace the current Hart Prairie Riblet lift, which is used to access a handful of Snowbowl's most beginner-friendly runs.

When the new Doppelmayr quad chairlift opens this winter, skiers and snowboarders can look forward to a more spacious ride, as well as upgrades including restraining bars, footrests, and padded seats. And since the lift will serve mostly green circle runs (read: easy ones), the lift will also feature Arizona’s first loading conveyor — basically a moving walkway — designed to help new skiers load onto the lift with ease.

The Hart Prairie area also features the Aspen chairlift and two surface conveyors, making it an ideal spot for ski and snowboard students.

With the capacity to move 1,800 people up the mountain every hour, the new Hart Prairie lift will double the capacity of the double chairlift it's replacing, which was originally built in 1981. Construction on the new lift will begin later this month and is scheduled to be completed by the time the resort opens this winter.

The new lift is the third new lift at Snowbowl in three years and is a part of a $15 million capital improvement program for the upcoming ski and snowboard season. Previous additions include the four-person Humphreys lift in 2015 and the Grand Canyon Express six-person high-speed lift in 2016.

Season passes for the 2017-18 season at Arizona Snowbowl, located 14 miles north of Flagstaff, are on sale now through August 4. Passes begin at $649 for adults and $179 for children ages 12 and under.
