Number 46: Sticky toffee pudding at St. Francis

There are plenty of alluring sweets to be found in Phoenix, but few are tasty enough to make me do dessert even when I really, truly have no room left.

I can stuff my face with flatbread, lick my plate after devouring the Moroccan fish, and, for that matter, drink like a fish. And still, St. Francis' sticky toffee pudding always calls my name. I justify it by saying I only need a couple bites . . . as if I'd ever actually restrain myself.

It's dense, smooth, and sticky as can be, with an intense toffee flavor and perfectly balanced sweetness. On top, there's a dollop of sweet cream gelato that makes a great thing somehow even greater.

In my mind, sticky toffee pudding takes up absolutely no space in my belly. Please don't tell me otherwise.
