SnapBack Pizzeria, a slice shop and pizza window on Grand Avenue near downtown Phoenix, announced on social media that it will soon close.

The pizzeria has operated from the arts district space for just over two years. It took over the former and beloved late-night pizza spot Grand Avenue Pizza Co.

The restaurant plans to serve its last slices this weekend, with service from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The closing announcement noted that “once we’re out, we’re out for good.”

“The last two years have been nothing but amazing from every single person we have met to every event we have done. Thank y’all,” the announcement reads. “It’s not a goodbye but more of a see ya later. Pivot when you need to.”

Ryan Moreno closed &Juliet Neapolitana in the fall. Now, SnapBack is set to shutter as well.

SnapBack was the first brick-and-mortar location for chef and owner Ryan Moreno. There, he serves what he calls a cross between Neapolitan and New York-style pizza, by the pie or slice.

Previously, he had been known for his smaller, personal-sized Neapolitan pies baked in a portable outdoor pizza oven. He started slinging pizza in Phoenix at pop-up events under the name The Hungry Homie before opening on Grand Avenue. Later, he opened &Juliet Neapolitana, a pop-up inside the kitchen of Arizona Distilling Co. in Tempe. That second concept closed in late 2024 when the bar and distillery shut its doors.

But now, Moreno has decided to close SnapBack as well. It marks the second blow for that corner of Grand Avenue, after The Wayward Taproom closed just across the street last fall.
