Viewers of MTV’s recently axed hipster sitcom I Want My Pants Back mailed hundreds of pairs of jeans to the network office in protest. Thankfully, fans of Joss Whedon’s short-lived space western Firefly prefer to don extra clothing, rather than take it off.

Relive the glory days of the series when the Arizona Browncoats host their monthly shindig at Samurai Comics. The meet-up brings Firefly geeks together to nosh on snacks while endlessly debating Captain Mal’s hotness and River’s insanity (or is it the other way around?).

While the Browncoats grew out of cancellation protests, they’ve since evolved into a social group centered on charity work and discussion of the Whedonverse. “Geeks don’t always step away from their screens and go outside,” says spokesperson Jen McAlonan. “We host these events so they can go out and feel like part of a community.”
