If you noticed a section of 27th Avenue was shut down this morning, not to worry -- it was just the Phoenix Police Department's SWAT team trying to find a woman who may have shot and killed a cab driver.

Around 6 a.m. today, Phoenix police got a call that a man had been shot near the 7200 block of North 27th Avenue.

The victim, a cab driver for Discount Cab, was shot twice in the neck. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses told police they saw a woman with long, dark hair and wearing a red sweat-shirt and black pants, get out of the cab and walk towards the Highland Park Apartments following the shooting.

One witness followed the woman but backed off because he felt threatened when she reached into her waistband.

Police arrived on the scene and set up a perimeter. They closed 27th Avenue north of Glendale as they searched for the woman.

The SWAT team was called in and went door-to-door looking for the suspect. She was located in the apartment complex and is now being questioned by police.
