A new take on Macayo’s from the third generation of Johnsons, the family who’s been running the Arizona-based chain of Mexican eats since Grandpa Woody Johnson and wife Victoria founded the family business in 1945, this Arcadia restaurant features hit-or-miss Mexican-American fusion dishes at prices three to four dollars more than you’d expect them to be. Best bets are to forgo the entrées and opt for a few starters, shareable plates, or snacks like chicken or veggie tacos, shrimp flatbread, or guacamole topped with Dungeness crab.
