After pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of his infant son, a Mesa man was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison by a Maricopa County Superior Court judge this morning.

In August of 2007, 24-year-old Gregory McMillan brought his 2-month-old son to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix because he was lethargic and wouldn't eat.

Doctors checked the baby out and found he had a fractured skull, two broken ribs, and a lacerated liver.

McMillan admitted to police that he abused the boy.

According to authorities, McMillan got angry when the baby wouldn't stop crying, so he "picked him up violently" and smacked his head, fracturing his skull.

McMillan broke the infant's ribs when, while changing his diaper, he smashed the 2-month-old's legs into his chest.

After beatin' up on his baby, McMillan shifted his focus to his girlfriend.

After telling her about what he'd done to the infant, McMillan and his girlfriend began to argue. McMillan ended the argument by choking the girlfriend several times before taking the baby to the hospital, where he died two days later.
