A one-stop spot for fitness training and healthy eating is coming to Arcadia, specifically to the northeast corner of 38th Street and Indian School: the Madison Improvement Club (featuring yoga and spin) and its S.e.e.d Cafe ("Sustainable. Edible. Entirely. Delicious.")

The club and cafe are set to open September 28. Soon you'll be able to drop into a yoga class or just drop by for a smoothie.
The restoration of this old building preserved not only most of the original structure (including the 1917 cornerstone) but the original name as well--ladies using the building called themselves the Madison Improvement Club, according to the new building owners.
The atmosphere and menu promise to be fun. Smoothies (just fruits and veggies, no ice or water added) are $6, fresh juice is $4-$5 and acai bowls will be $5-$6.50. There will be $4 grab-n-go options and sandwiches around $7. Most of the seating will be outside, which while small, doesn't disappoint -- it is just a cool looking as the inside. (Drive by.)
Executive Chef Joe Meyers has had some fun with names of menu items like "Spin Chick," a salad featuring chicken, spinach, goat cheese, dried cranberries and spicy almonds with a balsamic vinaigrette. Although based on name alone, we favor the "babble keet" juice (beets, carrots, apples) and highly suggest asking Alex Austin (yoga guy, mix master and cafe manager) about the story behind the name.
S.e.e.d. promises to balance taste and health with gluten free, vegan and carnivore options. (We hear this means there will be Tammie Coe Cakes, and beer and wine in the future.)
