Orchard for St. Vincent de Paul
Many moons ago (early 2010), we told you about a special program supported by the folks at Dreyer's (you know them, they make ice cream and other cold treats) and the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation called Communities Take Root. The program chooses 25 non-profit organizations across the country to receive a fruit tree orchard based on the amount of votes each received. Guess who got one ---- Our very own St. Vincent de Paul! Join the non-profit and Dreyer's Fruit Bars for the ceremonial tree planting and and fruit bar sampling event today from 11- 1:30 p.m. at 420 W. Watkins Rd. in Phoenix. The new orchard will provide shade food for the homeless and help improve air quality at the sites unfortunate location next to the freeway. Congratulations!
Stuffed Dates
This Chow Bella contributor was lucky enough to take a short trip up the California coast to a little city called San Francisco where she was able to indulge in a magical dish called Devils on Horseback from the Magnolia Brewery on Haight. Dates stuffed with goat cheese, wrapped in bacon. Having only had them in shake form, we had no idea they could be so amazing. Go ahead and drive straight to the Sphinx Date Ranch in Scottsdale and make your own. Do it!
