Farewell to a place with real character.
Word from a very reliable source is that Tempe favorite Efes Turkish Cuisine has closed; there’s no answer at the restaurant’s number during scheduled business hours.
The six-year-old eatery was well-known for its exquisite kebabs, friendly service, and exotic, cozy Turkish decor.
On a related note — if you’re dying for some good Turkish food — you can still eat the cooking of Efes’ original chef, Mustafa San, who left Efes a few years back to open Med Fresh Grill on Mill Avenue with his brothers. It’s not a fancy atmosphere, but the food is killer.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
