In mid-May, the company announced plans to bring multiple stand-alone Bobby's Burgers restaurants to the Valley. The new spots will be operated by Joe Sample, a franchisee who also operates locations of Taco Bell. The exact locations of the new restaurants have yet to be announced.
Bobby's Burgers serves a tight menu of Angus beef patties topped with options like potato chips or bacon and a fried egg. A veggie burger and chicken sandwich are also on offer. Fries and milkshakes are sold separately. The menu was developed by Bobby Flay, according to the company, but don't expect to see the TV star manning the grill anytime soon.
Bobby's Burgers has locations along the East Coast and in Las Vegas, with many of the restaurants serving burgers inside casinos and stadiums. Sample recently opened a stand-alone location in Utah, before setting his sights on Phoenix.
When we shared the news on social media, hundreds of readers liked the article. But many others shared disappointment, or even disdain, about the incoming spot. Either way, Bobby's Burgers inspired strong feelings. Here's what our readers had to say.
Jeanne is excited about the news:
I'm looking forward to going to one of his restaurants. I watch his shows and like the way he blends flavors, so am looking forward to a good burger.
Christian joked about another TV regular:
I heard "Bob's Burgers" are better. And Jeff agreed:
I read "Bob's Burgers" at first glance, but now I'm no longer interested.Leonard pondered the legality of the burger joint's name being so similar to the popular cartoon.
"I wonder if the "Bob's Burgers" folks are aware of this, and if this would be considered copyright infringement, or not. It's pushing the envelope, though. I know that much."David made the case for existing Phoenix burger joints:
"Plenty of better burgers in the Valley."And Brandon wondered:
"What ever happened to keeping it local at the airport?"Liberty shared a take on a trend impacting the Phoenix food scene:
"Another celebrity who has nothing to actually do with any of the food except sell the rights to use their name on the door is opening a restaurant in Phoenix. Yay."Aaron, who must have tried the burgers elsewhere, shared a review:
"WAY overrated - so many other (and tastier) burger shops around the Valley."Johnny agreed:
"I've eaten at many of his places definitely not worth it."Sonny simply and politely said:
"No thank you."So are you excited for Bobby's Burgers to open locations around the Valley? Let us know in the comments or at [email protected]. Bobby Flay certainly has loyal fans, but whether he has local fans has yet to be seen. The comments suggest otherwise.
