Huss Brewing Co.
On Jan. 31, Huss Brewing Co. announced it would close two of its Valley taprooms. One was the restaurant, bar and beer garden located within Uptown Plaza on Camelback Road and Central Avenue. The Tempe-based brewer cited its plan to refocus on distribution efforts and new projects such as a partnership with Arizona State University Athletics. The taproom didn't sit empty for long, however, as Dynamite Beer Co. has already opened in the space.
Papago Brewing Co.
The second of Huss Brewing Co.'s recent closures came to its Mesa outpost Papago Brewing Co. Huss owns the Papago brand and brews some of its beers including Papago Orange Blossom and Coconut Joe. The Mesa taproom is slated to become Copper State Taphouse.
On the Border
Tex-Mex chain On The Border has closed its Arizona locations. The chain has restaurants all over the country, and quietly shuttered its local spots without much fanfare. All Arizona locations have been removed from the company's online map.
Buca di Beppo
Another Valley location of Buca di Beppo has shuttered in a wave of closings for the company. The Old Town Scottsdale location of the Italian-American chain has closed less than a year after its Chandler sibling shut its doors.

Gadzooks, the local chain known for its enchiladas and soup, has closed two East Valley locations.
Gadzooks
Two locations of the local chain Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup have closed. The now-shuttered shops were located in Chandler and Tempe. Three locations remain open, along with an outpost inside Chase Field. Gadzooks launched in 2013 and is co-owned by brothers Aaron and Jared Pool.
Lou Malnati's
Fans of Chicago-style deep-dish pizza now have fewer options to get a cheesy slice. Lou Malnati's has closed its full-service restaurant in Uptown Plaza and a takeout-only kitchen on Val Vista Drive and Baseline Road in Mesa. But while the chain is currently down a couple of links, that won't be for long. Lou Malnati's is gearing up to bring pies to new locations in the Valley soon.
ComicX
Comic book-themed bar and restaurant ComicX closed its doors on Feb. 23 after five years at Desert Ridge Marketplace. At the two-story restaurant, customers could sit among the collection of memorabilia and life-size statues and order from the pop culture-themed menu. It was a popular spot for birthday parties, game nights and fan events.
Mr. Moto Pizza
San Diego chain Mr. Moto Pizza opened its first and only Arizona location at the Arcadia Village Shopping Center in 2022. Now, after less than three years, the pizzeria has served its last pies. The chain has six locations in southern California with four more in the works, and a restaurant in Las Vegas.

Supersized bar food fit the theme at The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen. The Tempe restaurant has closed after 10 years.
The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen
The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen
Amid the restaurants and shops decked out with desert-themed decor in Tempe, one spot stood out. A log cabin on Farmer Avenue decked out with antler chandeliers and plenty of plaid was home to The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen. This mountain-themed eatery served supersized pub fare such as a burger squeezed between two grilled cheese sandwiches. After 10 years, The Lodge has permanently closed.

Look Dine-In Cinemas
Look Dine-In Cinemas combines the concept of dinner and a show. But the final curtain has dropped at the chain's Chandler location. It was home to nine screens, a restaurant and bar that served craft beers brewed by the company. The now-closed cinema was the only location in the state for the Texas-based chain.
Remix Coffee
A rainbow-colored collection of tiny sheds on Grand Avenue is home to a selection of local businesses. In May 2024, Remix Coffee opened in the purple-painted spot. But now, after just a few months of serving coffee and bagel sandwiches, the small business has closed.
