More than 40 local bands will be playing the New Times Soundcheck Festival 2011, a two-day event that finds Grand Canyon State rockers taking over the stage at Club Red, but without a doubt the two most popular bands are the two reserved to close out their respective nights, Digital Summer and Authority Zero. If you are a radio listener, you've probably heard both acts: Digital Summer's "Just Run" ended up in KUPD's rotation, and Authority Zero's early-2000s hits "One More Minute" and "Over Seasons" should be familiar to X103.9 listeners. Both groups have achieved considerable mainstream success, with Digital Summer having opened for Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Alice in Chains, Godsmack, Deftones, Disturbed, and Five Finger Death Punch, and Authority Zero having shared the stage with No Use for a Name, The Starting Line, Everclear, and H20. Fans of alternative/modern rock will have plenty to catch at the Soundcheck Fest, which also features a variety of sounds from the likes of Dry River Yacht Club, Fayuca, Hollestate, Whiskey Six and many others. Tickets are $13 in advance or $20 for a two-day pass.
