It’s said there’s nothing new under the sun, and that timeworn chestnut proves particularly true each and every Halloween. For instance, if you under the delusion that you’ll be the only Lady Gaga out and about on All Hallows’ Eve, think again. While it’s bad enough that everyone and their mother dresses like a pirate, ninja, or zombie during this time of year, copycat costumes tend to be in abundance during All Hallows’ Eve. In other words, we’re expecting to see multiple clones of Scott Pilgrim, Don Draper, and Hit Girl populating all the big-time bashes taking place around the Valley over the next couple of weeks. However, if you feel like your outfit is truly original, you’re gonna need a place to show it off in style. Consult our annual party guide, which contains info on all the heavy-duty Halloween events happening in the PHX. — Benjamin Leatherman

DOWNTOWN PHOENIX ZOMBIE WALK

“They keep coming back in a bloodthirsty lust for HUMAN FLESH!” screams the tagline for George Romero’s landmark 1968 horror film Night of the Living Dead. The same could be said about this annual Halloween event, save for the fact that participants will be in search of a bloody good time instead of feasting on fresh brains. Dozens of undead urbanites will be stumbling and staggering through the streets of downtown Phoenix on Friday, October 29, while covered in zombie makeup and showing off their moaning skills. The route will begin and end at Heritage Square, 115 North Sixth Street, with an after-party taking place until midnight. The lineup starts at 6 p.m. See www.downtownphoenix.com/zombie.

GHOST BALL

When it comes to off-the-hook All Hallows’ Eve affairs in the Valley, it’s hard to top this annual extravaganza of outrageousness. Thousands of raucous revelers will jam into a super-size street party taking place on Saturday, October 30, outside Axis-Radius, 7340 East Indian Plaza in Scottsdale, sucking down alcohol aplenty and sporting some of the snazziest costumes you’ll ever see. At stake is a total of $10,000 in cash prizes that will be handed out over the course of the evening to best overall costume, as well as the sexiest and most outstanding group getup. Live bands and DJs will also perform. Gates open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $34. See www.axis-radius.com.

CHEAP THRILLS HALlOWEEN

The DJ duo of Jared Alan and Sean Watson are pretty damn adroit when it comes to putting on hellacious Halloween hootenannies. This year is no exception, as the trendy turntable twosome are planning something rather raucous for the All Hallows Eve edition of the popular Cheap Thrills dance night on Saturday, October 30, at Brick, 445 North Third Street. They’re re-creating the spacey setup from Daft Punk’s colorful Alive Tour, complete with a pyramid-shaped UFO and plenty of state-of-the-art lighting elements. Completing the homage will be a gig by local tribute act Daft Punk’d, as well as spinsters such as William Fucking Reed, Swerv Griffin, Don Ricardo, and others performing as some of the most famous costumed DJs in music. The dancing and debauchery starts at 9 p.m. with a $5 cover. Call 602-258-3665.

THRILLER COSTUME BALL

Despite its allusions to Michael Jackson’s signature song, you probably won’t encounter any creatures crawling in search of blood during this spooky shindig on Friday, October 29. Instead, expect to experience plenty of fire performers, contortionists, and other freakish folk occupying the interior and exterior of 910 Live, 910 North McClintock Drive in Tempe. British trance turntablist Eddie Halliwell will headline the event, which will also feature a dozen different DJs will be spinning up a storm on both the indoor and outdoor stages. Costume contests will also be held, with cash prizes being doled out to the best-dressed man, woman, and group, as well as sexiest and scariest outfits. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $20.
