We were counting the days until this place opened, because it's owned and operated by Matt of Matt's Big Breakfast, a place we truly love. We weren't disappointed: the coffee is strong and freshly brewed by the pot; we recommend the Smoke Jumper -- a delicious, complex espresso drink that will wake you right up and leave you that way all day. The pastries are decadent, and the ambience is friendly and neighborhood-y. Happy-hour pricing at a coffee house? You betcha -- 50 percent off all baked goods after 3 p.m. every day, and all of it made with local and organic ingredients. Whatever time of day you go, order a fresh-made bagel and ask for the jalapeño cream cheese.
