Hoping to escape the summertime scorch? Join the club. With triple-digit temps currently charbroiling the Valley, many locals are hitting the road in search of cooler air and a break from the baked landscape, if only temporarily.
Concertgoers looking to cool off have plenty of reasons to head to Flagstaff’s Pepsi Amphitheater. The 3,500-cap outdoor venue at Fort Tuthill County Park in Northern Arizona is a lush sonic oasis hidden amid towering Ponderosa pines and made for live music under the stars.
Built in the ’90s, Pepsi Amphitheater mixes small-town charm with big-stage energy. The open-air venue runs from late spring until early fall and brings in touring artists from across the musical landscape (read: rock, pop, country, folk, blues, reggae and jam bands and occasional wildcards like Insane Clown Posse). Fans spread out on the expansive lawn or grab a reserved seat under a canopy to catch a concert.
Pepsi Amphitheater’s 2025 lineup is stacked, with more than a dozen concerts on deck. Big names are in the mix — including several artists steering clear of Phoenix — like alt-rock vets 311, breakout country star Sam Barber and former Carolina Chocolate Drops frontwoman Rhiannon Giddens.
Also on tap: indie faves Band of Horses and Iron & Wine, reggae-influenced musician Michael Franti, country rocker Ryan Bingham and bluesy folkster Shakey Graves. In July, Arizona concert promoter Relentless Beats cranks up the PLUR with the two-day EDM blowout Escape to Coconino while September features the annual Pickin in the Pines Bluegrass Festival.
