D'lish might be easier to drive by than drive thru. But this is a cute, small -- emphasis on the small! -- restaurant redefines fast food. It's fast, but it's also healthy, using organic and local ingredients when possible.

The drive-thru option is great for those on-the-go trying to make it back to the office, but there are also several tables available inside and on the patio.

While the menu is just on the edge of being pricey, you can get a sandwich and a drink for under $10.

They also have wraps, protein burgers and hearty salads, like the "Man" Salad with tuna-stuffed avocado on a bed of greens with bacon, chicken and feta - most of which you can get vegetarian, dairy-free or gluten-free.

I ordered the Baja Chicken soup and hummus plate to go. The soup was spicy and creamy with tomatoes, black beans, corn and chunks of chicken - basically chicken tortilla soup - and it came with blue corn tortilla chips. The hummus was topped with pesto and feta, which was a flavorful surprise, and was surrounded by carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and cucumbers. The best part was the warmed, herbed flatbread, even though it did that weird bread thing where it gets chewy and gross after it cools down.

In addition to food, they offer a variety of coffee drinks and smoothies. I was intrigued by the Breakfast Buzz shake, a delicious-sounding combination of espresso, peanut butter, banana, chocolate, protein, vitamins and skim milk. Yeah, I don't know why I didn't order it, either.

If you don't have much time for lunch and want to keep it healthy, D'lish is a great option.

D'lish is at 2613 N. Scottsdale Rd. in South Scottsdale.
