From now until we publish the 2016 edition of Best of Phoenix, New Times is naming 100 Tastemakers — members of our local culinary community who help shape the way we eat, drink, and think about food in Phoenix. Some you'll know, and for others, it'll be a first introduction, but each person on our list deserves a nod for helping make our city so delicious. Oh, and while you're here, be sure to check out our list of 100 Creatives.

15. Urian Torres of FrinGo's Kitchen

Urias Torres was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, and moved to Long Island at the age of 2. After spending more than 20 years in New York, his parents, Efrain and Susana Torres, then moved to Mesa with Urias' siblings. Torres followed in 199,8 and in 2006 accepted an offer to own a car-wash franchise in Scottsdale, which he still operates today. Despite his success in the car detailing business, Torres wanted to start a second business, and in November 2014, he began to lay the groundwork for FrinGo's Kitchen. The restaurant, which is named after Torres' late father, Efrain, relies on the support of family and the culinary skills of his sister Magaly Torres. The restaurant opened in February 2015.

"The support of the local community has been overwhelming," Torres says. "The Phoenix area has grown in cultural diversity over the last 10 years, which we believe will open many more doors for current and future business owners. Our hope is to offer something new to the area that will add to the growing multiculturalism in the Valley."

Today, Torres dishes on the best-kept secret in Chandler and what he misses about Puetro Rico.

My go-to place for pizza in Phoenix is Venizia's New York Style Pizzeria.

The best-kept secret in Phoenix is
Vintage 95 in Chandler.

Three things I miss about Puerto Rico are
my family, the food, and the beach.

One thing most people don't know about me is my original business idea was to have a women's clothing store.

Phoenix could use more
small businesses and less chain restaurants.
