Pairing herky-jerky rhythms and over-the-top musical drama, the players follow the whimsical lead of frontman Adam Baker into robust country, rapturous string sections, and myriad other musical pathways. To wit: “Hot Night Hounds” peaks with a bleary spiral of jam-band guitar, “Hair Don’t Grow” summons bluesy grit via Weezer goofiness, and the end of “Hardwood Floor” sounds like two bands playing at once.
