In a video posted to her Twitter account, a red-nosed and puffy-eyed Adele told fans that she's been battling a cold for the past few days, but the cold has gotten the better of her today, forcing her to cancel tonight's show. It would have been her second consecutive concert at Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix.
"Even if I did the show, it wouldn't be any good," she says. "I've been trying to sing all morning and warming up, but nothing's really happening."
If Adele was sick last night, we sure couldn't tell. (Read our review of last night's Adele concert in Phoenix for more.) Her voice sounded spectacular, almost superhuman. There will be as many sighs of relief from fans lucky enough to have tickets to last night's show as disappointed groans of those unlucky souls planning for tonight after news of this cancellation breaks.
"I will reschedule this show, I promise you, and I will come back and smash it for you. I'm really, really sorry. Have a wonderful evening without me," she says at the end of the video before blowing a kiss to the camera.
The singer plans to reschedule the canceled show, but there is no word yet as to when the new date will be. Her current world tour runs through November 15.
Get better (and come back) soon, Adele.
