Join the New Times' this Saturday at Artopia, the sixth annual event dedicated to celebrating local creativity. Spend your evening perusing a collection of artwork from some of the top local creatives while celebrating this year's winners of the Big Brain Awards -- they'll be announced at the event. Sample food from various local eateries and food vendors including Big Brain nominees Brazen Chocolate and Uptown Farmers Market, as well as beer, wine, and craft cocktails from favorites including AZ Distilling Company. The 21 and over event will be run from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Monarch Theater at 122 East Washington Street in Phoenix. To purchase $25 tickets in advance, visit the Artopia website. Farmer's Market Cocktail Competition Saturday, May 9

Watch teams of some of the Valley's top bartenders compete to create the best Farmer's Market cocktail this Saturday morning at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmer's Market. Each team will be given a budget to buy ingredients around the market, and will then have 30 minutes to shop and 30 minutes to create their cocktail. Entry to compete is closed, but everyone is welcome to watch the event in the Livery Stable Room (located at the south end of the Farmer's Market). The event starts at 9 a.m., and judges will announce the winner at 11 a.m.
