Oh yeah.
Her latest album, Cho Dependent (Clownery Records), features a slew of guest musicians, including Tegan and Sara, Ben Lee, and Ani DiFranco, all playing backup while Cho sings tunes like "Eat Shit and Die"
We caught up with Cho to ask a few questions about her upcoming show and future plans.
Love the video for "Eat Shit and Die." But if you knew you were going to die and could pick your last meal, what would it be?
Some type of macaroni and cheese with chocolate cake, I think! Lots of carbs. Oh, and wine. Mmmm!
(check out the music video and the rest of our Q&A with Cho after the jump).
You collaborated with so many musicians for this album. What kind of crazy shenanigans happened in the studio?
We laughed a lot, but it was mostly hard work! It's hard work to be a singer and to play in the studio. It has to be perfect -- studio time is costly, and everyone had lots of other projects happening, too. So they were gracious enough to give me their time for this album -- so, very few pranks and shenanigans, and lots of work. But fun and lovely and inspiring and beautiful as well. I love everyone on this album so much. I did notice that I could eat everyone under the table!
Cho Dependent has an homage to man parts called "Your Dick." Why do you think there are so few similar songs paying tribute to the phallus?
I don't know, but I really hope this starts a trend. It's an important song. And it also applies to women. You can have a dick whether you grew it or bought it online.
What songs do you always find yourself singing along to when you hear them?
"Umbrella" by Rihanna, "Down on Me" by Janis Joplin, and "Shadows of the Night" by Pat Benatar!
How is the Cho Dependent tour different from your previous tours?
There's all new standup comedy material -- a few songs, but mostly new jokes. I can't wait. It's a really great standup show!
