Forks up, Phoenix! Chow Bella and Roosevelt Row present the sixth annual Pie Social at 2 on Saturday, November 21, at the Bioscience High School at 512 East Pierce Street in Phoenix. We’ve got an all-star lineup of bakers making pies for you to taste, and from now till Pie Social, we’ll introduce them to you, one by one, through pie charts designed by each chef to capture his or her persona as a baker.
Today: Lisa Levinson of The Bakery PHX
Though she was raised in Arizona, Lisa Levinson was born in the Great White North, specifically in Montreal, where she first learned to bake at her grandmother’s side. Later as an adult, she tried to replicate her grandmother’s recipes — and though she started with little success, her efforts sparked a passion for baking she never knew she had. Five years ago she started The Bakery PHX at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market, during which time she perfected recipes and built a fan base. She opened a brick-and-mortar bakery in North Phoenix a year and a half ago and says, “fortunately, we are busier than ever.” In her spare time Levinson likes to hang out with her friends and dogs.
