Here Are All the Phoenix Restaurants That Opened and Closed in October

Matt's Big Breakfast opens a new location, Gilbert welcomes The Parlour Room, and Meet Fresh 99, a Taiwanese dessert place, lands in the Valley.

Over the past month, the Valley food scene welcomed a variety of restaurants, including a fried chicken place, a Taiwanese dessert joint, and a Vietnamese bakery. Doors also opened at I Heart Mac & Cheese, where you can customize your grilled cheese sandwiches and mac and cheese bowls, and at Matt's Big Breakfast, a local breakfast staple for several years. Several Valley locations closed their restaurants, including Pulque, Brunch Cafe, and The Revelry.

OPENINGS

I Heart Mac & Cheese
16500 North Scottsdale Road, #105, Scottsdale
If you're craving some Southern food, I Heart Mac & Cheese opened its latest location in Scottsdale. Guests can customize a mac and cheese bowl or grilled cheese sandwiches. Sides include tater tots, cheesy broccoli, and tomato soup.

Fat Willy’s Family Sports Grill
151 East Williams Field Road, Suite D12, Gilbert
Gilbert welcomed its sixth location of Fat Willy's Family Sports Grill. The menu includes standard pub fare like nachos, wings, and pizza.

Haldi Indian Cuisine
18561 North 59th Avenue, #122, Glendale
Haldi Indian Cuisine opened its second location in Glendale. The three-year-old restaurant serves Indian favorites like tandoori chicken, chole, and samosas.

Matt's Big Breakfast
7507 West Rose Garden Lane, Glendale
The locally-owned breakfast joint, Matt's Big Breakfast, opened its fifth location in Glendale. Some favorites include the hog and chick, Belgian waffles, and smashed avocado toast.

Freely Taproom & Kitchen
1730 East Warner Road,  #11, Tempe
Tempe welcomed Freely Taproom & Kitchen on the northwest corner of McClintock and Warner in south Tempe. With a spacious indoors and an expansive dog-friendly outdoor patio, guests can kick back and enjoy 30 beers on tap and 18 wines.

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken

The second location of the popular Memphis-based restaurant, Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken, opened in downtown Phoenix. The menu includes Southern comfort foods like baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and of course, fried chicken.

The 37th location of the popular fast-casual concept, Salad and Go, has opened in Mesa.

The go-to dish at the recently opened Shawarma Factory is the crispy chicken shawarma wrap. Beef kabobs, falafel plates, and a mixed shawarma plate are available.

Meet Fresh 99

Meet Fresh 99 offers traditional Taiwanese desserts like black boba milk sugar shaved ice, hot red bean soup, and matcha drinks.

Thai Chili 2 Go
8870 North 90th Street, #100, Scottsdale
Thai Chili 2 Go has opened its 12th location in Scottsdale. The fast-casual Thai eatery offers curries, noodles, as well as vegetarian-friendly dishes.

Sushi, ramen, and Hawaiian options are available at Little Asia Cuisine. The Phoenix restaurant is in a strip mall located on the northeastern corner of Cactus and 43rd Avenue.

Barrio Cosita
15801 North Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, #100, Scottsdale
Owners of Barrio Queen have created a new concept restaurant called Barrio Cosita in Scottsdale. Blue corn tacos, burritos, and salads, and more are served at this fast-casual joint.

The fast-casual Mexican restaurant Someburros opens its 12th location in Mesa.

The newest location of Maskadores Taco Shop opened its doors to patrons in North Phoenix. The wrestling-based Mexican joint serves street tacos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, and more.

Terra Tempe
11 East Seventh Street, Tempe

Terra Tempe opens on the ground floor of the Westin. The restaurant serves modern American cuisine. Some highlights on the menu include squash pappardelle pasta, Chilean sea bass, and roasted chicken.

Twisted Chef Cantina

Twisted Chef Cantina has landed at the southwest corner of Gilbert and Guadalupe in Gilbert. The restaurant plans to serve pasta, pizzas, burgers, and sandwiches.

NOTABLE CLOSINGS

Pulque Fine Mexican Cuisine
The upscale restaurant, Pulque Fine Mexican Cuisine, in Scottsdale will no longer be serving food. The restaurant closed after being in business for nine months.

Howler's Restaurant and Sports Bar
The Gilbert location of Howler's Restaurant and Sports has closed again. This closing is the second in six weeks.

The Revelry
After 10 months in business, The Revelry closed its indoor and outdoor space which sported mini golf, an arcade, a bar, and a restaurant.

Brunch Cafe
After two years of business, the breakfast and lunch joint Brunch Cafe has closed its doors in Scottsdale.
