We could pretty much live off the fried chicken and biscuit Little Birdy sandwich -- with beignets for dessert -- at Welcome Diner, and now all of that goodness is about to be available at a location southeast of Welcome Diner's current set-up.

Although details on the new Michael Babcock venture are still limited, the name, Welcome Chicken + Donuts, is set and promises both.

You can expect Welcome Chicken + Donuts at 16th Street and Buckeye Road to open "soon," according to WD GM Wayne Coats.

UPDATE: Although details at the time were very limited, Welcome Diner announced via Instagram that Welcome Chicken + Donuts will be opening in October at 1550 E. Buckeye Road in Phoenix. The announcement revealed the restaurant will be serving "Korean Style Twice Fried Chicken" and "Artisan Donuts," as well as "Hot and Cold Pressed Coffee."

Until then, we'll all just have to sit tight and enjoy the fact that the diner is serving brunch again, which started back up last weekend with weekly specials and a menu including biscuits and gravy and a brunch burger. Here's the full brunch menu to hold you over until we have more news on Welcome Chicken + Donuts:

Editor's Note: This post has been updated from its original content to reflect new information about the restaurant that was released after publishing.
