No surprise here: Phoenix isn't exactly one of the safest cities in Arizona.

10.) Maricopa

Violent Crimes Per 1,000: 1.29
Property Crimes Per 1,000: 18.80

Does it bother anyone else that Maricopa is in Pinal County, not Maricopa County?


9.) Pima

Violent Crimes Per 1,000: .83
Property Crimes Per 1,000: 16.19

Again, misnomer: Pima is in Graham County, not Pima County.


8.) Gilbert

Violent Crimes Per 1,000: .95
Property Crimes Per 1,000: 15.80

The only town on this list that's actually close to Phoenix.


7.) Oro Valley

Violent Crimes Per 1,000: .50
Property Crimes Per 1,000: 16.24

For those who don't know, it's a suburb of Tucson.


6.) Somerton

Property Crimes Per 1,000: 15.25

Actually was not named after a snowflake. Its founders were Erastus Snow and William Jordan Flake, the latter an ancestor of Senator Jeff Flake.

Arizona's northernmost town.


2.) Clifton

Ah, Clifton, Arizona -- a town known for, um, you know, all that stuff that goes on in Clifton.

Low crime is probably a side effect of being a prison town.
