Know how to shake your groove thang and pump up a crowd? Well, then you might be a fit for the Phoenix Suns Dancers. Auditions for the 2013-14 season are less than a month away, and if you want a good shot at taking your show to the big stage, then you might want to attend one of the remaining prep classes before the official tryout process begins.

The next pre-audition clinic will be held on Tuesday, July 30, at US Airways Center. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. with the workshop starting promptly at 6:30. The audition prep class is meant to simulate the audition experience and includes a warmup, learning a six- to eight-count sideline routine, freestyle/solo practice, and tips. Attendees will also meet with current dancers and learn material, get tips of proper audition attire and discuss résumé writing and headshot submissions, judging criteria, nutrition, and exercise. Though prep classes aren't required for those auditioning for the team, they are highly recommended.

Another clinic will be held on Tuesday, August 13, at the same time.

Audition prep classes cost $50, with each additional class being offered at a $10 discount. Payment will be collected at the time of the clinic, and cash or money orders will be accepted. Dancers can reserve a spot at either class by emailing Taryn Carmichael, Suns Dancers Manager, at [email protected].

The acutal 2013-14 Suns Dancer auditions will begin on Saturday, August 17, at the Phoenix Convention Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dancers will learn two sideline routines and an audition routine before performing in small groups in front of judges. Those who make the first cut will perform the routine a second time as well as freestyle. A second cut will be made at the end of the day and semi-finalists will be asked to return on Sunday, August 18.

Semifinals will include a short interview, photo shoot, and dancing; those chosen will advance to a two-day training camp.

Training camp on Tuesday, August 20, and Thursday, August 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. will include learning two new routines, both of which will have to be performed on Saturday, August 24, for the finals. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite dancers beginning on Wednesday, August 21, and the 2013-14 Suns Dancers will be announced on Wednesday, August 28.
